Flooding in San Antonio Tlayacapan (arroyo)
Here is a video of the flood we had today in our village of San Antonio Tlayacapan.
The roads in our area are closed today to all truck traffic since the rains have washed out the sand beneath the interlocking bricks and has caused severe buckling and damage. We are stranded in our house since we can't drive out or in. The highway to the airport is closed. No repairs to our roads can take place till after the rainy season, which should be over in about a months time. Not quite sure what we will do? Reports so far have stated that cars are buried in mud and people have died. Military Humvees are forming up outside of Joco and are due to patrol the area that has been most damaged to prevent looting. The governor of Jalisco just left with his helicopter after a brief visit on the intersection of Chapala - Jocotepec highway and the street / river coming down from El Parque. Word on the street is that 40 people died in San Juan Cosala. Unfortunately we can't confirm any of the above information regarding the surrounding area since this was info posted on the local forum.
