Where's The Beef
Finally we decided to purchase the Weber Q100. This BBQ may be small, but is more than capable for our requirements. It can sear a steak at 550 F , something my bigger unit back in Canada could never do. It is also much nicer to grill here, instead of wearing my parka to BBQ, as I did in January! I modified the unit to operate on the house supply of propane, so I never have to make emergency trips to the fill station for the tank. Specs on the Q100.

Granja Los Faisanes Bird Farm
We visited a bird farm today and met some wonderful people, Laura and Javier, who run the operation. They have a very large compound with too many birds to mention. It was quite an experience to see so many birds of various sizes, colours, and rarity. I learned today that peacocks are part of the pheasant family. Laura and Javier are encyclopedias of information and their knowledge should be documented. Javier literally travels the world to physically capture various species for his collection, from Borneo to Tibet. They sell and ship around the world to various universities, zoos and bird collectors.

Here is a link to some additional pictures of the garden (you can see this as a slideshow if you click the top right hand corner of the screen after you click on this link: GARDEN PIC LINK
There is a lot of filling in to happen, but this is a preliminary view of the garden. There are several tress and large bushes, that will range in height from 5 to 16 feet. Stay tuned for the changes!
