Dr. David Truly: Associate Professor of Geography

We attended a lecture given by Dr. David Truly today, on the demographics and migration of retirees to our area. Dr. David Truly is an Associate Professor of Geography and Director of Tourism and Hospitality Studies for Central Connecticut State University.

Here is an excerpt from the LCS newsletter:

Dr. David Truly first visited the Lake Chapala area in 1997-1998 and conducted intensive research on the motivations of North Americans who have retired to this area. From his interviews and surveys, he developed a typology of retiree behaviour that helps identify the types of retirees who may decide to migrate internationally. His research has been published in academic journals, and he is currently working on a book with other researchers interested in international migration patterns.
The presentation, North American Retirement Migration to Mexico: What We Know and What We Wish We Knew,” will include an overview of the existing research on North American retirement migration to Mexico with an emphasis on the Lake Chapala region. Topics will include the positive and negative impact of this migration stream, the potential impact of the aging Baby Boom generation, and future development issues that will affect the cultural landscape of the Lake Chapala area and other popular retirement/tourism destinations in Mexico.

Tiling Continues.

Preferred Ajijic Footwear!

Here is the best footwear for the area. I hate the look and swore never to purchase a pair, however the practicality won out. Crocs.

A 4-inch Monster!

Here is a little spidy we found in our back terrace tonight. Penny was excited to see her first natural (not in a pet shop) tarantula!
